AnswerFemales need no less than 1200 calories a day. They should eat at least chicken, fish, other seafoods (if they like) and don't have to eat red meat if they so choose. Veggies, fruits, grains, lentils (beans), dairy products and fiber from leafy greens and grains. 8 glasses of water a day to flush out the body of fats and toxins and also exercise (a fast walk, jogging, bike riding, swimming) or join a gym if you so choose.

If you are on 500 calories a day you are damaging your body. Your body is feeding off itself, and by ping-pong dieting eventually you will damage your heart, kidneys, liver and stomach lining not to mention your digestive tract and colon. In time you will be riddled with great health problems.

It's the quality of the foods you eat as I mentioned above and 3 1/2 ounces of protein per meal is all one needs and filling up with grains, veggies, fruits and some dairy products are a must. If you start taking in 1200 calories and follow these instructions you will lose weight. Stop the crash dieting!

Eating less than 500 calories a day does not mean you are anorexic. Anorexia is a serious mental illness, and there are more deaths from anorexia than from any other mental illness.

Furthermore, for you to be diagnosed anorexic, your bmi would be lower than 17.5. As well as shoe all the classic symptoms. There is a world of difference between a person crash dieting to 500 calories a day, and a person who is suffering from anorexia.

Obviously I o not know whether you are anorexic, healthy, etc because your question does not state so, but generally if a healthy person ate 500 calories a day they would not be anorexic. Although people should be careful because crash dieting is dangerous, and these things can spiral out of control.

Answer:Technically you are not anorexic just because you eat 500 or less calories a day. And also, you don't have to have a bmi of below 17.5 to have an eating disorder....you might not be diagnosed anorexic until then, but it wouldn't mean that you didn't have an eating disorder....As long as you don't 1) look in the mirror and are never satisfied with the way you look, you always want to lose more weight, 2) are obsessed with counting calories, and will restrict yourself to the point of starvation to lose weight, and 3) obsess over weighing yourself (once a week is normal or healthy, but obsession is weighing everyday or more than once a day and over-reacting to tiny fluctuation in weight)...then you're probably fine.
