One good move set:
earthquake (STAB, 100 of pure power)
wood hammer(STAB 120 of pure power-he/ she will take damage)
Stone edge ( 80 of power takes out flying pokmom, and its cool)
rock polish ( makes torterra faste, this will make torterra strike first)
Another good move set:
Curse-Torterra is already slow, so this move won't be bad.
Earthquake-The best ground type move and STAB!
Stone Edge-Takes out almost every type Torterra is Weak to.(Power is 100 not 80.)
Seed Bomb/Wood Hammer-Seed bomb if you don't want damage and wood hammer if you care more about power. Stab!
Another move set:
Since Torterra is both Grass and Ground type, it is best to have Grass and Ground type moves. Though it is also best to have moves to defend itself from Flying, Bug, Fire, and Ice type Pokemon because these are Torterra's weakness. But it isn't too necessary.
Give Torterra Earthquake. Earthquake is a Ground type move, which is very popular Ground type move. It doesn't make contacts to Pokemon that don't touch the ground. Also, in a double battle it hits all Pokemon but itself, unless the foe or ally is above ground. Power is 100, Accuracy is 100% and PP is 10 (max. 16).
Give Torterra Frenzy Plant. It's a very strong Grass type attack. It's also Torterra's special. Just like Earthquake, its makes contact to all Pokemon in a double battle. But like Hyperbeam, after you use it your Pokemon must recharge. Power is 150, Accuracy is 90% and PP is 5 (max. 8).
The thrid move would be Wood Hammer. This is a Grass type move. It is pretty strong and has a good accuracy rate. The problem is that the user gets hurt a bit using it but either way it is a good move to have. Power is 120, Accuracy is 100% and PP is 15 (max. 24).
The last move should be Synthesis. This is also a Grass type move. It has no power or accuracy because it heals your Pokemon. If the weather normal is heals your Pokemon a good amount, but if it's rainy, don't expect a whole lot of healing. If it's sunny expect a lot of healing. This move can keep Torterra out in battle for a long time. PP is 5 (max. 8).
Other good move set :
Wood Hammer, Earthquake, Razor Leaf, and either Rock Slide or Stone Edge
Earthquake, Frenzy Plant, Wood Hammer and Synthesis.
Earthquake, Wood hammer, Giga drain, and Crunch.
Another good move set:
Nature: Adamant (the best) /Impish/Careful (the okay)
Another move set:
Frenzy Plant- awesome grass move
Wood Hammer- a powerful grass move again
Earthquake- A good ground move
Iron head- accurate and offers protection against ice which is a 4x weakness
Another move set:
Razor Leaf: Power-55 Acc.-95% PP-25 PLUS Razor Leaf has a high critical hit ratio.
Giga Drain: Power-60 Acc.-100% PP-10 if you hold Big Root You get 30% more HP.
Earthquake:
Crunch: Power-80 Acc.100% PP-15, plus the dude you hit might flinch.
Another suggestion:
earthquake - obvious reasons
wood hammer - recoil damage, but otherwise awesome
stone edge - good against ice and fly
crunch - otherwise you can kill barely anything
don't use synthesis; it restores HP, but what's wrong with a hyper potion?
you could use superpower, but its got enough uber moves already.
No. Torterra doesn't, because that move is only in the Hoenn Region.
No. And to be honest Magical Leaf on a Torterra would be useless if it could due to Torterra being a Physical Attacker not a Specialist Attacker (Magical Leaf is a Special Move)
Depends on your tactic. If you ask me, I think that Torterra can benefit from better moves but if you use Substitute in your strategy or Woodhammer then Leech Seed can be a very good move to use.
On a normal level-up scale, Torterra learns Wood hammer at lvl 1 (!) so therefore you need to bring it to a move tutor with a Heat Scale to relearn the move.
in my opinion i think torterra is the best but the thing is turtwig is easy to handle its torterra piplup is easy to handle when its piplup and chimchar is easy to handle when its monferno i think that turtwig grotle and torterra is the best because its easy to handle for the longest period of time it depends on what you want to choose and when you want it to be easy to handle hope this helps alot =)
Earthquake! You big dummy!
Torterra is absolutely better because he is stronger and more defensive. Piplup on the other hand is small and his best move is bubbles.pipluptorterra is better
Torterras strongest move is earthquakeme and my freind beat the league with torrteras earthquake not true torterra's best move is leaf storm
No. Torterra doesn't, because that move is only in the Hoenn Region.
The move tutor on Route 228 will teach your Torterra Frenzy Plant.
Cut, Earthquake, Grass Knot and Razor Leaf. It beat my level 100 Infernape.
Nature shouldn't matter. Frenzy Plant, Leaf Storm, Wood Hammer, Earthquake.
In Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time, Torterra can learn the move Earthquake by leveling up to level 53. This move can also be taught to Torterra through the use of a TM26, which is the Earthquake TM in the game. By using this TM, Torterra can learn the move Earthquake regardless of its current level.
It learns it at level 45.
No. And to be honest Magical Leaf on a Torterra would be useless if it could due to Torterra being a Physical Attacker not a Specialist Attacker (Magical Leaf is a Special Move)
The Move Tutor in a building on Route 228 will teach Torterra Frenzy Plant. (If you are playing Diamond or Pearl, that is.)
Torterra is the strongest Grass Pokemon in Diamona and Pearl.
