The big 1 and 7/16" nut turns counterclockwise to remove it.
To remove the nut, rotate it counter-clockwise.

!st take off the deck and flip it over... then place a screwdriver through the hole next to the nut then righty tighty lefty losey
Take off the axle nut. The outer tie rod to knuckle nut. Loosen up the small nut holding the strut to the strut tower but don't take them all the way off. Then pry the inner cv jount out off the transmission. You have to hold the strut out of the way too.

Better yet, they can be fixed. First turn off the shut off valve below, then take off the handle and the nut below it and then uscrew the shaft and you'll see the washer or what remains of it. Take it to the store and choose another washer. re-build it the opposite way.
To tighten a left-handed nut, turn it counterclockwise. To loosen it, turn in clockwise. It's the opposite of a "regular" fastener.

Counter-clockwise to remove (lefty loosy, righty tighty). The nut may be pretty much stuck due to dirt, debris, time, etc, but it takes a counter-clockwise roation fo removal.
