to get past the fortree gym leader winona, first you should have a pkmn with a strong water type move around lvl 45-50, this is strictly for skarmory, then you should have another pkmn with a strong ice or dragon move around the same level as the first, that's for winonas pkmn altaria, third and lastly you should have a guy with a strong rock or electric type move for the rest of her guys. i suggest that you don't have any grass or bug type Pokemon..hope this helps:)
Probably try to use different elements to easily defeat the gyms, I don't know. Probably no Rattata's or Pidgey's, Spearow's are more powerful, just stick to a few Pokemon when you start off until you have the chance to catch useful and powerful ones. Though if you want you can catch all the weak Pokemon to add to you PokeDex, but if you need guys for battling it's better to wait until you are around Vermillion, there are a lot of powerful and cool wilfd Pokemon around there. Nidoran, Drowzee, Butterfree, Geodude, Pikachu(In Viridian Forest), But its hard to get water Pokemon at that point in the game. Just catch whatever Pokemon you deem worthy of your Pokemon-League-Smashing team. Hope that helped, Pickomon
Nuggets (of gold) can be found all over the region on grassy areas, caves or mountains in Kanto on Fire Red. To find them you either use the "Itemfinder" that Prof. Oak's Aide gives you, it will point out which direction the item is buried in. Or you can also catch a Meowth and take him with you. As long as you don't make him hold something he will use his ability "Pick Up" and grab items on the ground for you. However a good rule to remember, once your meowth evolves into Persian he will lose his pick up ability and he will learn "Limber" instead. Limber is not very useful when it comes to picking up items but it is useful in battle as it disables any attempt from your foe to paralyse your Persian. Meowths are very common around the daycare house. Nuggets can be sold at any PokeMart and they will earn you 5000 money.
Bugsy's team is as follows: Metapod lv. 15 Kakuna lv. 15 Scyther lv. 15 All of Bugsy's Pokemon are weak to Fire, Flying, and Rock. Scyther is also weak to Electric and Ice. If you chose Cyndaquil, this should be an easy match, since it is a fire type. If not, you could use Hoothoot (Route 29, Route 30 night only), Pidgey (Route 29, Route 30 Morning and Day only), Geodude (Route 46), Spearow (Route 46 morning and day only), Mareep (Route 32), and any other Pokemon that have types Bugsy's Pokemon are weak to as well. Also remember that the Pokemon you choose to complete this should be around the same level as Bugsy's Pokemon.
