Nuggets (of gold) can be found all over the region on grassy areas, caves or mountains in Kanto on Fire Red. To find them you either use the "Itemfinder" that Prof. Oak's Aide gives you, it will point out which direction the item is buried in. Or you can also catch a Meowth and take him with you. As long as you don't make him hold something he will use his ability "Pick Up" and grab items on the ground for you. However a good rule to remember, once your meowth evolves into Persian he will lose his pick up ability and he will learn "Limber" instead. Limber is not very useful when it comes to picking up items but it is useful in battle as it disables any attempt from your foe to paralyse your Persian.
Meowths are very common around the daycare house. Nuggets can be sold at any PokeMart and they will earn you 5000 money.
