will make it quick and simple.

Ps3 overheats sometimes because its running fast and people dont clean the vents or store ps3 in closet or closed spaces where it overheats.

When it overheats it melts the solder on the mother board which solders 2 different companants into single via solder bridge.

Solution ?!

you can pay ps3 people like 120$ to fix it for you but sometimes they send you brand new one and you loose your hard drive with all the saves.

Better Solution ?!

Do it your self all you need is a philips screw driver take ps3 apart and get to mother board you need soldering gun to unsolder that soldering bridge and it will work just fine. Step by step guidance is provided all over the web on YouTube ect.

Can the PS3 slim get YLOD?

All PlayStation 3's are able to get Ylod. Some may even argue that PS3 slims are more likely to get Ylod due to the size. A smaller console means less room for heat sinks and fans, Meaning that the PS3 will generate and hold more heat which is a number one cause for Ylod The above must have been written by someone who does not understand that the PS3 slim uses less power and will run cooler than the Fat PS3 and does not have an overheating problem. The actual available and unused space in the PS3 slim is greater than in the Fat PS3, but overheating is not a problem for the PS3 slim. Overheating is worse in the first PS3 4 USB port models released with the highest power consumption at 200 watts and 380 watts max even the last PS3 Fat models used 130 watts and 280 watts max. The slim PS3 uses only 100 watts and 250 watts max

How does PS3 get ylod?

The answer from what is YLOD has been added to this question in it's entirety. Basically the PS3 YLOD is a hardware fault on the motherboard, sony claim that there is no single reason behind yellow light of death but as a rule this is due to the cheap solder that sony use. When your PlayStation has been on for prolonged periods of time it will reach high temperatures causing the solder on the motherboard to melt, as it cools (when you turn it off) it cracks causing a faulty connection. The term YLOD stands for yellow light of death, after this has happened to your PlayStation any attempt to turn it on will result in it beeping and flashing from green to yellow and finally flashing red.

Can a ps2 game work on the first ps3?

Yes Most games that were out then did work, but not without errors and other problems for some of the games. The next batch of models had even more problems and these were the first models in Europe see related link Before you think of running out to purchase the early PS3 model remember that they have no warranty and if sent to Sony for repair they will be replaced with a newer model if they can not be refurbished. A big word of caution the YLOD can and is routinely fixed. The fix will allow the PS3 to work for only a few months until the "Fix" is needed to be done again. see PS3 secrets related link for more on this quote: "However, if your PS3 has already had the YLOD, then you can reflow your motherboard every few months to keep it working (but it is not a permanent fix as the YLOD usually comes back)."

If a ps3 has ylod does just replacing the hard drive fix it or could if be a problem with the system itself?

NO, I don't think the YLOD is ever a harddrive problem from what I have read so that is not a solution worth trying. There are a number of sites that discuss it and also YouTube videos. You have the YLOD The problem is hardware failure internally What you need is a PS3 REPAIR GUIDE http://www.ps3problemsgone.info Imagine the solution to all your Console errors in one downloadable ebook. There quick easy to use and you will be back up and running in no time. Or you can send it off to the manufacturer sony for $150 if no longer in warranty Happy to help

Can the ps3 slim get the yellow light of death?

It can break and get the Yellow light of death symptoms , but not from the problems associated with the below described that resulted from overheating and causing the solder to become crackedThe "Yellow Light of Death" or YLOD is the common phrase people use to describe the following sequence when they try to turn on their PS3:Press Power ButtonRed Light Flashes Three TimesYellow Light FlashesGreen Light FlashesBeeps Three TimesRed Light FlashesThe sequence above may vary a bit but you do see the flashing yellow light (sometimes shows up as orange) that normally you would not see when operating your PS3. The YLOD is a general hardware fault that can mean a lot of things. However, one of the problems is cracked solder that leads the PS3 to think one of its internal chips is not connected or is broken somehow. Cracked solder can happen when the chips get too hot (RSX most likely) and leads the motherboard to start bending, which may crack the solder. Changing the power supply (lower the average wattage going to the chips to lower the heat) (PS3 Slim has lower power levels already)and better thermal compound (heat dissipates faster to the heatsink) may prevent this error from occurring. However, if your PS3 has already had the YLOD, then you can reflow your motherboard every few months to keep it working (but it is not a permanent fix as the YLOD usually comes back). Great and best reason to not purchase used PS2 compatible PS3 with 4 USB Ports

Why does your ps3 get YLOD for only one game?

Mostly because the game you are playing is very fast paced and takes up alot of power to run smooth from ps3. To avoid YLOD always keep your cooling vents clean and well maintained. Keep ps3 out of closed spaces so it wouldnt overheat make sure its cool leave it by a window or something it will stop then.

What causes the ylod for ps3?

Ylod is commonly caused by a lose of connection between the GPU/CPU to your motherboard. Generally this is caused by heat and can be easy noticed if you open up your PS3. You will see that your thermal paste and pads are worn and are not working correctly. To get rid of Ylod you need to reapply the thermal paste on the GPU/CPU and ensure that the inside of your PS3 is dust free.
