It can break and get the Yellow light of death symptoms , but not from the problems associated with the below described that resulted from overheating and causing the solder to become cracked
The "Yellow Light of Death" or YLOD is the common phrase people use to describe the following sequence when they try to turn on their PS3:
The sequence above may vary a bit but you do see the flashing yellow light (sometimes shows up as orange) that normally you would not see when operating your PS3. The YLOD is a general hardware fault that can mean a lot of things. However, one of the problems is cracked solder that leads the PS3 to think one of its internal chips is not connected or is broken somehow. Cracked solder can happen when the chips get too hot (RSX most likely) and leads the motherboard to start bending, which may crack the solder. Changing the power supply (lower the average wattage going to the chips to lower the heat) (PS3 Slim has lower power levels already)and better thermal compound (heat dissipates faster to the heatsink) may prevent this error from occurring. However, if your PS3 has already had the YLOD, then you can reflow your motherboard every few months to keep it working (but it is not a permanent fix as the YLOD usually comes back). Great and best reason to not purchase used PS2 compatible PS3 with 4 USB Ports

The ps3 slim doesn't overheat
Of course, I have the 360 Slim and my friend has the PS3 slim and the PS3 has problems! Along with mines it has no problems! So the correct answer is yes.
The yellow light of death is when a solid yellow LED light shows up on your PS3. It is extremely rare for this to happen, but if it does there are ways to fix it, if you Google it. This will only happen if your PlayStation 3 overheats or the hard drive fails. If it overheats, it automatically will shut it's self off. But that usually doesn't happen because it comes equipped with a cooling system.
I believe that was a fat PS3 problem
PS3 Slim Seems to be the same kinda, PS3 60g gets alot of YLOD's, ( Yellow Light Of Deaths).
The difference is: The PS3 slim is 33% smaller, 33% quieter and uses 33% less power than the original Fat PS3. Also the PS3 slim has more memory, 120GB, 250GB etc.. The slim PS3 has only 2 usb ports.Well for one the PS3 slim in 33% smaller than a normal PS3. Another thing is that the chances of getting Yellow Light of Death are very slim as the PS3 slim won't over heat as there is so much air vents around it. You can get more memory on a PS3 slim.

The game does not cause the yellow light of death. You can know this for sure because not every person who has a PS3 that had the yellow light of death has played Call of Duty games.

You may never get it. Only some of the PS3 models have gotten the yellow light of death and not every one in any one model version has gotten it
To show ps3 is on
There have been many problems with the ps3 such as the yellow light of death or the message that says the hard disk can not be found.
If you're talking about entering cheat codes into the game, then no you will not get the Yellow Light of Death.
