No, if it leaves the field, it is unable to Set itself during the end phase. It must survive whatever battle it is involved in, and remain on the field.

For the effect of x-saber galahad if the attacking monster has the lower atk before damage step but has the higher atk after the effect is it still destroyed?
The only time the ATKs matter is during Damage Calculation itself. Galahad's ATK changes before Damage is calculated - the ATK decrease will be applied before the ATKs are compared. So if it decreases his ATK enough so it's lower than the attacking monster, Galahad will be destroyed by battle, the attacker will be ok.

So Bottomless Trap Hole removes from game, but also destroys. However Dimensional Prison only removes from game, this is not a 'destroy' effect.

The monster's ATK only matters during Damage Calculation itself. If a 'weaker' monster attacks a stronger one, but that weaker monster has an effect that boosts its ATK during Damage Calculation, then the weaker monster will survive if it then had the higher ATK. It doesn't matter that afterwards, its ATK goes back to normal - Damage Calculation is the part of the Damage Step where monsters are considered destroyed by battle, and the weaker monster had a higher ATK for that.
