The new Slim PS3 are very slow to overheat because of some of the changes to the hardware, but the never had a failure rate that would limit play to only a few hours. I dont know about the first part of your question (Did not understand anything) But your PS3 overheats when you play for 4 hours straiight and if you play for 5 hours straight you ps3 can explode! not into fire but it will explode inside and then it wont work again
