The game discs for the PS3 are not CDs or DVDs and are BluRay Discs. The PlayStation Store will sell downloads for full games that can then be played on the PS3. The Playstation Store has exclusive rights to downloaded games and the PS3 has been designed to prevent games from being added through the USB port and also made part of the user agreement for updates and Playstation Network Master accounts. The Playstation Store also has free demos that can be downloaded and played and Playstation Plus members can have a free one hour trial of any game. Playstation also licensed some game developers allowing demos for other games to be downloaded when there game disc is being installed. You can then play that demo without the game disc.

No you are not able to play pirated PS2 CD's in a Sony PS3. There are some PS3's that are backwards compatible and can play PS2 games.
No They are played on a PC
PS3s play only PS3 games unless they say they will play others. For example most say that they will play select PlayStation titles and most say they will not play PS2 games right on the box it was shipped in. PS1 used the CD format and PS2 did not use a CD and instead used a DVD format disc. The only PS3 that said they could play PS2 games were the old PS3 consoles with 4 USB ports
