Fight in the Defense style first of all through the combat menu.
Fight creatures that have high hitpoints or regenerative qualities like monks or Experiments or Dragons.
With monks especially they can hardly ever hit if you have more than lvl 10 defense and they regenerate very rapidly with their spells, so I've heard of people training their accounts to 45 defense when they step off tutorial island just by purely attacking monks while in the defense style. And due to their low att and str the account will almost never kill the monk allowing the account to stay logged in for very long periods of time without the need to be sitting there clicking on stuff.

to go up in combat level you need to go up levels in strength, attack, defence, hitpoints, prayer and summoning.NOTE: Magic ,range ,and and slayer do put up your combat level but it takes much higher lvls for them to affect it, no other skills do affect combat lvl.The highest combat level you can get is 138, this is when you have level 99 in all strength, attack, defence, hit points, prayer and summoning
It Depends on ur att and def level if its high it will take a while if its is like 7 and below it will be a lot faster

To get your hitpoints level up in RuneScape, you must gain the appropriate amount of experience points that it says you need. That means you have to do a lot of combat related things, such as melee, magic, or range. Those skills will train your hitpoints when you use them.
Scorpians.
Pest Control.
Just repeatedly use defensive moves. To level it up faster, you could always fight a really strong enemy defensively.
You can't de-level your skills in any way, only level them up. You can however avoid leveling that skill completely by all means.
I would train a little bit more until you are around level 50, before you start doing that quest, train your strength and defence up.
Defence training in runescape is leveling up your defence by kill monsters or people. Start of easy with goblins and when u get to a high lvl, kill greater demons.
