2 easy just shake it up and down continuously 4 a wile then look at it and the steps should go up

U can also tape it to your dogs collar (if it is a small dog) or tape it to a collar of any animal. Little dogs take more steps than humans so they will walk more. About 4 of dogs steps equals 1 step for a human.
