Resetting the Pokewalker doesn't affect Routes; they are stored on your cart.

Yes, while a Pokemon is in the pokewalker it is unusable in the game until it returns. The pokewalker is also only capable of taking Pokemon out the PC, so you need access to one. If your pokewalker is lost or stolen, look in the game's instruction manual to find how to force it to return.

You will have to erase everything on your pokewalker if you are planning on starting a new game and using it on the new save (it should tell you how to delete pokewalker stuff in the pokewalker manual thing)

1. Turn on your DS 2. Click on your heart gold game. 3. On the menu screen click on 'connect to pokewalker' 4. It will come up with stuff you can do. 5. Choose which one you want to do and hold the pokewalker next to your game card when it says connecting to pokewalker. You should have connected by now. If it doesn't work it might be broken. No. They stay on the game card as long as you have that game file saved. Bad things happen if you make a new game and try to reconnect the pokewalker.

If you've completed most of the game (not just the elite-four), or just get bored, sure! Just make sure you know how to reset your PokeWalker for your new file.
