It depends what you mean. If you mean their impact on culture than yes, they are important(if you think i'm wrong try to think of today without video games). If you mean why they are important to someone it is because of two reasons: 1.Video games let you do things you would never do in real life. For example, would you jump on turtles with green or red shells or would you battle a boss in real life? Probably not. 2.Video games let you escape to imaginary and creative worlds.
