To connect to an IP server you need to first of course find an IP. Once you've found an IP to a server you like, copy is and go to the multiplayer section on minecraft. Since you can't right click the place to insert your IP you'll need to press CTRL + V and it inserts the copied IP. Then enter. :) If the server isn't running then try another time, and also if it has a whitelist you'll need to gain access to the server first.
