Well, according to the type of Pokemon Infernape is no. But, some people can beat fire types with grass types if you train your Pokemon really hard and get special moves to wipe out the fire Pokemon.
I had my Infernape once, who's name is Ember, battle against my friend's Torterra. We both wanted to have a little showdown and I thought I'd win, but I was wrong. My Infernape had used her special move, Ember, and it hit. It did some damage but when the Torterra attacked, it used Frenzy and my Ember fainted.
Like I said, even though you have a type disadvangted, don't let it get you down. I have a charmeleon named Blaze on Firered and I went up against Misty and beat her with only 1hp remaining.

According to Marriland Infernape(62 best Pokemon) is the best, then empoleon(65 best Pokemon), and finally torterra(73 best Pokemon). Personally, they are all good to me. I started with chimchar and got all the starters, so I would know which starters are good . Watch this: Infernape(fire fight) : can kill torterra with fire type attacks and kill empoleon with fighting type attacks, or since empoleon is a water steel type, and steel is weak to fire, fire can also do quite a bit of damage. Empoleon( water steel): can take out infernape with water type moves, and take out torterra with steel/ice type moves. Torterra(grass ground): take out infernape with ground type moves and empoleon with grass type moves. So once they all evolve, they can take out each other. You know what, start with chimchar and trade some other Pokemon for a piplup and a turtwig.
