Benjamin Barker ( Sweeney Todd) comes upstairs ,kills the woman ( not knowing its his wife), the judge and almost his own daughter Johanna( because she is in disguise as a boy). But he heard Mrs lovett scream and ran downstairs...
so you can assume this means Anthony brought the carriage , and they runaway and get married ( or just fall in love)... and Johanna never finds out what happened that day... or Anthony might have been shocked to see blood all over the place when he returned, and Johanna may have been curious to why someone screamed downstairs so they both go downstairs revealing Benjamin, the woman( Benjamin's wife Lucy) dead and a bunch of blood ... ( or Toby.)
