Usually, you need to begin at the local level, in a smaller city where you can get experience. Some people begin by taking courses at colleges that specialize in broadcasting careers; many colleges have their own TV station and you can learn the needed skills so that you can then begin applying for professional jobs. Other people go to work at a local station and by being at the station every day, they learn the way that TV operates. But realistically, to get on the air on a regular basis, you will need to develop a special skill or talent, perfect it, and then go to an audition for a job in a larger city. Nearly every famous TV host began in a small town and then worked their way up.
