In the 74th Annual Hunger Games, Katniss and Peeta are the final two tributes alive. They do not want to kill each other, because they have begun to realize they do care about each other. Instead, they fake a double suicide by both pretending to eat a handful of nightlock berries. Claudius Templesmith (the announcer) commands them to stop before they swallow the berries - which is when they spit the berries out and are both declared victors.
Katniss and Peeta outsmart the gamemakers by planning to eat the nightshade berry.
The gamemakers had said that if the two last tributes may both live if they are from the same district. When the games end with just Peeta and Katniss from District 12 standing, the gamemakers withdraw this new rule and say there can only be one victor. The two of them decide to each eat some nightshade berries (which will kill you in seconds) at the same time so there will be no victors so they don't need to chose which one of them will get to live.
They are taken back to District 12, but because they have sparked a rebellion they are taken into the Hunger Games arena for the Quarter Quell, this year's twist being that previous winners will be reaped, and Katniss is the only girl winner of District 12 so she is guaranteed to be chosen. I won't give anything else away, but let's just say that they make some new friends in the arena.
In The Hunger Games : The game-makers declared in the middle of the games, that if both members of the same district, are still alive, they can both win. Then, when Katniss and Peeta were both alive, they all of a sudden said that there could only be one winner, and neither wanted to kill the other and loose each other, so Katniss brought out poison berries, and they were both going to commit suicide. But the capitol got mad, so they let them both win, though some of the people were angry about this.In Catching Fire : Haymitch and the head game-maker take the remaining tributes out because they didn't think the president was being fair by putting them back in the games. But it tells nothing more, because that was the end of the book.
Bits and pieces. He still remembers things about Katniss like her liking of lamb stew, her favorite color is green, and things like that. Some of his memories are still jumbled, so Katniss plays "Real or not Real?" with him a lot. He will never be the same but he still remembers how much he loves Katniss at the end.
yes but the twist is amazing she pulls out poisonous berry's when the capitol says a team can win but goes back on the promise but she gives the berries to Peeta and herself and before they eat them a guy yells no don't and both of them win but the capitol is so pissed off.
oliver twist oliver twist
they basically rebel and make the gamemakers let them both win and defy the capitol with nightlock berries
That nothing can overpower love. Peeta's and Katniss's love was so strong that they managed to twist the rules and both of them were able to live.
Basically Peeta is very much in love with Katniss but she's afraid that it will hurt Gale if she gets together with him. But when they are going into the games for the second time, and she's planning to do all she can to keep Peeta alive so she knows that this means she will have to die. So she realizes that she can't hurt Gale anymore and acts how she truly wants to towards Peeta. And they try to spend every waking moment together before they go back into the arena. And when Peeta is on the roof with her and they are together and he acts all in love with her instead of denying him, she allows him and acts in love back. And when they are in the arena and they kiss, Katniss says that she has a hunger for more and wouldn't pull her lips from his mouth. And at the end when Peeta is taken by the capitol Katniss is left heartbroken and crushed and loses the will to live.

After Peeta and Katniss were rescued from the arena, President Snow is furious. He goes to Katniss's house to personally tells her he would kill Gale if she didn't fix the whole mess. Gale is mad at Katniss for the romance with Peeta. President Snow makes Peeta propose to Katniss on television. He then starts planning the wedding. Peeta and Katniss go on their victory tour, but they realize that they have started an inferno. There are uprising in a lot of districts. Katniss didn't realize it at first, but what president snow had predicted had come true. It isn't until the shocking news on television that makes Katniss realise what's happening. There are new peace keepers everywhere. They are whipping people who break the rules, including Gale! Then President Snow announces that all the victors are the tributes for the Quarter Quell and Katniss and Peeta have to go in the arena again. In the arena every hour a disaster happens it takes them a while to realize this and then this Beetee blows up the force field which makes the capitol angry so they blow up district twelve! You have to read the books!!

Because she was seen as "The Girl On Fire" when she made her entrance to the Capitol
The second book to The Hunger Games. It came out September 1st 2009, and around that same time in 2010 the third book in the trilogy will come out. Many things happen, but mainly Katniss has to convince everyone (especially President Snow) that she is madly in love with Peeta, but ends up failing and she must be forced back into the arena, as a tribute, for the Quarter Quell. Either Peeta or Haymitch must enter the arena along with Katniss. Read the book to find out who enters the arena with Katniss and what happens to them. Book three comes out on August 24th.

Catching fire is about Katniss and Peeta going on the tours of the other districts (because they were the winners of the 74th hunger games) and as the hunger games have a twist in every Quarter Qwell (every 25th hunger game), the 75th hunger games' twist is that two tributes from each district's winners has to enter the hunger games and fight again. So Katniss has to go again because she is the only girl from district 12 and she chooses to go with Peeta because they are a good team. Gale gets whipped because he is caught selling a poached turkey on the new Head Peacekeeper's orders (yes, the old Head Peacekeeper is dead). When she goes up the tube just before she goes into the hunger game, Cinna (who is her designer) is dragged out the room and is from thereforth seen as dead. In the hunger game, they form an alliance with people such as Finnick, Johanna, Mags and Wiress. At the end of the hunger games, everyone is saved apart from Peeta who is captured by President Snow. That's a brief overview of what happens in Catching Fire, I hope it helped :)
What is Catching Fire About?Catching Fire is the second book in The Hunger Games trilogy, written by Suzanne Collins. She also wrote the third book in the series, Mockingjay. Catching Fire is the second book in the Hunger Games trilogy, and its main focus for the first half of the book is the Victory Tour, in which Katniss realizes that even though she's won the Games, the Capitol still has control over her and she will never stop being just a 'piece of their games'. The story takes an abrupt twist when Katniss and Peeta are launched back into an arena with a strange similarities to a clock. This is because of the Quarter Quell. Every 25 years a change is made to the games. In the 3rd Quarter Quell, which is the 75th games, past victors must compete against each other until the death. Because of this Katniss and Peeta are put back into the games.
The problem in Catching Fire is that the year that the book is based on is the Quarter Quell. The Quarter Quell is like how The Hunger Games is every year, but with a twist to it. The Quell happens every twenty-five years, and Catching Fire is about the 75th Hunger Games. The twist for this Quarter Quell is that both tributes from each district will be chosen from the districts existing pool of victors, and District 12 only has three victors: Haymitch, Peeta, and Katniss. Since each district must send one boy and one girl, and Katniss is Twelve's only living female victor, she has no choice but to go back into The Hunger Games for the 2nd year in a row. Now, she has to face the arena again with either her former mentor, or her district partner that she won the previous Hunger Games with, both being people she loves and cares for to the highest extreme.
