YES!!!! if you delete your songs from your computer or the iTunes it will erase them from your pod. maybe not as soon as it gets hooked up (it might do some funky stuff before hand), but it will. i just got done deleting my whole itunes software and all the music in it, thought i could reinstall itunes and then hook back up my pod to get them all back, oh no it only works with the purchased songs. i lost 3,554 songs i collected over the years. i am super pissed at mac and it's whole opperating sysytem right now because this isn't the first time I've had problems with them. back up all your stuff if you know how or can too by the way jus tin case something does happen.

Plug your iPod into your computer and open iTunes. On side menu of iTunes you will see an iPod symbol (this is under Devices, the third category down). Click on the iPod symbol and scroll down to the third category, Options. Click on SYNC ONLY CHECKED SONGS AND VIDEOS. Then go to your iTunes library and un-check all of the songs and/or videos that you do not want on your iPod. This will allow you to keep your iTunes music, but it will take it off your iPod.
well you need two computers to do this and you click advanced on iTunes and there will be a drop down menu. Then You click turn on home sharing and you must do this with both your computers. Then it will have a box near to iTunes store saying Home Sharing. Click on this and then it will be all the other computers songs. Then you copy the ones you want and then paste them into your library. Then click sync but it will delete the current songs on your new iPod.
You can either choose to uncheck the songs in iTunes, or use something like iPhoneBrowser to delete the music.you cant directly from the i-pod but you can delete it off your computer tthen download all the songs back onto your i-pod.
First, you need to have iTunes 8.0 or later and a charging cable for your iPod Touch (iTunes 8.0 or later is required to work with the iPod Touch). Here is a step-by-step process on how to transfer music from iTunes to your iPod Touch:Connect your iPod Touch to the computer, and then open iTunes.Wait for iTunes to recognize your iPod Touch, which will show in the navigation bar at the left.Go to Music in the navigation bar.Select all music you wish to transfer to the iPod Touch.(Optional) On a PC, you can choose individual separate songs in a group by holding the Control (Ctrl) key and clicking all songs you want to choose. On a Mac, you can choose individual separate songs in a group by holding the Command/Apple key while clicking on all songs you want to choose.Click and drag one highlighted song (if a group is selected, it will drag the rest with it) onto the iPod menu in the navigation bar.Wait for it to transfer the music. Depending on how much music you are transferring, it can take anywhere from a few seconds to five minutes or more. After syncing is done (which you can tell by looking at your iPod Touch screen because it shows the word 'Sync in Progress' if it is syncing) you have successfully transferred music to your iPod Touch. To insure a safe and complete disconnection, click the eject button next to the iPod Touch menu in the navigation bar. Once the iPod Touch menu disappears, it is safe to remove the cord. Now just listen to your iPod Touch!
