I had to go look at my Quest 1000x and could not find any hole in the sight, but my Quest is about 4 years old and Crosman may have added it to yours. Usually a sight with a small hole is called a peep sight. I have a notch sight on my rifle. The only other hole on top of the rifle is towards the back of the barrel and that is a Scope stop. Some scopes have a pin on the bottom pf the scope mount to place in the hole, this keeps the scope from moving when the rifle fires.
Yes, a front and a rear sight.
where can I buy a new rear sight for a spesco 38 special
I believe the serial number is behind or to the rear of the rear sight. you should be able to see serial number without removing sight
Unfortunately Crosman doesn't have a listing by Serial numbers. But the pistol was made in two variations. The first variant was between 1964-1976. The first variant has metal sights and a metal cylinder. During this time they made a second variant that had a plastic rear sight and plastic cylinder for the pellets it was made between 1973 to 1976.
Tap it gently. that's all it takes! This is from the manual: Your rifle has been sighted-in and test-fired at the factory. Due to individual shooting characteristics, however, sighting should be range verified. 1.) Vertical Correction (Elevation) To raise the point of impact, raise the rear sight, by moving the sight elevator rearward. To lower the point of impact, lower the rear sight, by moving the sight elevator forward. The sight can be raised and lowered by moving the stepped elevator forward and back with your thumb. To move the point of impact to the left, tap the rear sight base to the left. To move the point of impact to the right, tap the rear sight base to the right. Windage adjustments to the rear sight can be made by gently tapping the dovetail portion of the rear sight in the desired direction.
