Follow the instructions in the owner's manual. If you don't have one, find a gun shop. They will most likely be glad to help.
If you can find a Remington Sportsman 78 for less than $300 and it is in good condition buy as many as you can. $400 - $500 would be fair.
Get a copy of the Gun Digest Asembly/Disassembly instructions for centerfire rifles. The Marlin Mod 36 is included.
No, a Remington 1100 stock will not fit on a Sportsman 58. The two shotguns have different designs and stock attachment mechanisms, which means they are not interchangeable. The Sportsman 58 is an older model with a different mounting system compared to the Remington 1100. Therefore, if you need a replacement stock for a Sportsman 58, you will need to find one specifically designed for that model.
Contact Marlin.
The sportsman 78 model Remington is the same as a Remington 700 adl, but i have yet to find whether to buy a short or long action stock for mine... so i would just go for a rem 700 adl stock
Should be on the action, Sportsman could be the 48 or 58 semi auto. Sportsman models have little parts left so try not to break any.
I cannot find any instructions, however, the 59 breaks down like the 1911.
