Go to this web site for serial numbers and dates for Winchester arms: http://armscollectors.com/sn/winlookup.php?file=winxx52.dat
Unfortunately the serial number provided does not match the format used by Winchester to track the manufacture dates of their firearms. Due to privacy concerns and security reasons Winchester does not share any information about their firearms and their serial numbers which makes it impossible to determine the exact manufacture date of the Winchester Model 70 with the serial number G2239505.
Go to the Ruger website- customer service, historical data, pistol, find your model, and the dates of manufacture are shown for different serial numbers.
You have to look them up in the Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson by Supica and Nahas or call S&W.
The serial number is K261818 and dates to @ 1955. You will need to call S&W to find out the model.
Go to Proofhouse.com and look at the Winchester sn data. No Proofhouse does not give serial info on the Model 1200 only the dates of manufacture from 1964 to at least 1984
This link is from Sako's database, and lists older models and dates of production: http://www.sako.fi/pdf/datatables/SakoOldmodelsNumbering.pdfsako classic 270 serial number 654798 how old is it?
@ 1956
Go to the Winchester site. There used to be a link that you could follow that showed ranges of serial numbers and manufacture dates. I don't know about where to go for value. You could go to a gun store and ask for them to give you an approximate value for insurance.
@1971
They all should have serial numbers if not you have a counter fit
