Well, difference is the answer to a subtraction problem, so that means to subtract. So, you would have to do: 357-38, and you would get 319. To check it you could go: 319+38, and you would get 357. If you are not talking about subtracting, the difference between the two numbers would be that: one number is in the hundreds, and one is in the tens. Hope this helps!! P.S- I know this stuff because I am in 4th grade.

What is the difference between a 357 cal bullet and a 38 Cal Bullet?

The .357 has a longer case and a heavier bullet; it is identical to a .38 in diameter but far more powerful. This is why a .38 will fire in a .357 but not the other way around.

Whats the difference between the 357 and the 38 special cartridge?

What is the difference between a 38 and a 357 handgun?

Assuming you're talking about a .38 special and a .357 magnum, the difference is, the .357 magnum has a slightly longer chamber. The two cartridges (commonly, but incorrectly called "bullets") are the same diameter, but the .357 is slightly longer, and normally produces higher pressure and velocities when fired. You can fire a .38 special in a gun chambered for .357, but cannot fire a .357 in a gun chambered for .38 special.

Can you shoot regular 38 caliber ammunition in a 38 special?

NO, a 38 Special is actually .357 caliber. NO, a 38 Special is actually .357 caliber. A 38 special is NOT a 357 magnum. Both bullet heads are about .357 in diameter. The difference between the 38 and 357 is the length of the brass case. The 357 brass case is a bit longer then the 38 special case, and the gun powder load is a bit higher then the 38 special load...... Further, you can shoot a 38 special case in the 357 magnum revolver, however, you cannot fire a 357 magnum round in the 38 special. The 38 special cylinder is too short for the 357 round......

What is the difference between .357cal and .38cal handguns?

Assuming we're talking about .357 magnum and .38 special revolvers, the most basic difference is a .357 magnum chamber is slightly longer than the .38. The .357 casing is also slightly longer than the .38 and holds more powder. The actual bullet (the piece of lead) is the same, but because of the higher pressure of the .357, the bullet travels faster and has more energy. .357 magnum guns are typically a little heavier than a similar gun in .38.

What is the difference between a 38 special bullet and a standard 38?

There isn't a difference. Mainly because .38 Special IS the standard .38. The "Special" in .38 Special is simply a marketing word. The term was used to distinguish it from the earlier .38 Colt, which is now obsolete. In modern terminology a ".38" is an abbreviation of .38 Special. Now, just in case you did not ask the question you meant to... Another common question is the difference between .38 Special and .357 Magnum. The .357 Magnum was designed as an "enhanced" version of the .38 Special allowing more powder to be stored in the casing and thus deliver more power to propel the bullet. The .357 Magnum is much more powerful and has much higher gas pressures, and thus it is not safe to shoot a .357 Magnum out of a gun designed for .38 Special. Fortunately most modern .38 Special revolvers are designed so that the longer .357 Magnum will not fit in the cylinder. The reverse however is permissible as .38 Special can be fired in a gun intended for .357 Magnum because the magnum-gun is built much more sturdily than required to shoot a .38 Special.

What is the difference between a 380 and a 357?

What is the difference between a 9mm round and a .38?

What size bullet does a 38 caliber?

38 is the size. This answer is actually correct, but more specifically, .38 special (and many of the other .38 caliber cartridges) are actually .357. The caliber ".38" was chosen to distinguish between .357 magnum and .38 special.
