You're thinking of the M240B (or possibly the M240G used by the Marines, but not being phased out for the 240B), which is actually a variant of the Belgian FN MAG machine gun. As for nicknames, it's typically referred to as "pig", same as the M60 was, although it was simply a case of the M240 inheriting the nickname, rather than earning it for the reasons the M60 was christened with it.
