Avoid foods that have wheat or flour in them because items containing wheat and gluten stick to your tongue even after swallowing which produces more saliva. If you have them anyway, make sure that you clean your mouth afterwards either by brushing your teeth or scraping your tongue.

Salty food will help absorb the water.

High protein foods like chicken, fish, beef will help keep your mouth dry especially since they are often prepared with salt. For a vegetarian celery and carrots will work as well. Make sure you are chewing on them all day.

Suck on Sunflower seeds to keep the mouth dry.
