The maverick 88 is the mossbergs cheaper pump action option, there are three maverick 88 models
#1 is a 5+1 shot pump action with an 18 1/2 barrel and has a cylinder bore, (no chokes) chambered for 2 1/2 and 3 inch shells.
#2 is a 5+1 shot pump action with a 28" barrel and has interchokes, chambered for 2 3/4" and 3" shells
#3 is a 7+1 shot pump action with a 20" barrel, i am not 100% sure but i think these barrels are Cylinder and cannot change chokes, also chambered for 2 3/4" and 3" shells.
Mossberg & Sons, Inc. manufactures the Maverick Model 88 shotgun. It is a budget-friendly alternative to the Mossberg 500 series, sharing many of the same parts and features.

Between $100-$125
Basically like the Mossberg 500. You can find disassembly instructions for the 500 on YouTube, and they will work for your Maverick 88.
The mossberg Model 88 maverick can definitely shoot slugs and with fair accuracy too with the un-rifled stock barrel. Try the Winchester Super X 2 1/2 inch 1 oz. But hang on to it or it will hurt you. The recoil is roughly doubled.
The serial number on my Maverick 88 is on the left side of the firearm, above the trigger and in front of the stock
About $200-$275 new depending on how it's set up. Used for around $75-$150. It's almost identical to the Mossberg 500 except for the trigger group/safety. It's a good bang for the buck. Pun intended.

yes u can .the maverick 88 has a full chock barrel.
You need to remove the recoil pad. Once the pad is removed the stock is hollow. You need a long flathead screwdriver to remove the one bolt holding the stock on. Shine a flashlight into the stock and you'll see the bolt easily.
the only way it will ever be put back together is to take it to your local gun smith
