Not exactly junk, but, it's not a Model 70
With my .308 model 770 I can take a deer out to about 400 yards. An expert can shoot a lot farther then that but 400 is the longest shot I will take at game. and I prefer 100 yds or less.

The 30.06 model 770 is a bolt action repeater with a magazine capacity of 4 and one in the chamber.
Probably because Winchester never made such a model. You either have a Model 70, or a foreign counterfeit. If it is a Model 70, though, and somehow got double-struck as 770 at the factory, it might generate some collector interest. Winchester most certainly "DID" make a model 770. It was only built between 1969-1971. It was a "cheapened down" version of the Mod. 70. There was a Standard version (22" barrel) and a Magnum version (24" barrel). These had a checkered Monte Carlo-style stock and open sights. All had a blind box magazine, no floorplate. The Model 770 would definitely be considered a post-'64 Winchester design. I have had it since 1972. Highly accurate. Less then an inch at one hundred yards with 150 gr. slugs. It was made in the U.S.A..
