Some pill packs come with a 5/6/7 day placebo pill during which your body will both undergo "withdrawal bleeds" and prepare the ovaries for ovulation. In the absence of the Birth Control hormones, that is the body's natural response. If a missed/late pill is at the end or beginning of the placebo tablets, the amount of time the ovaries have to ovulate is increased, and thusly your odds of ovulating are increased. However, the chances of ovulation are slim with only one late or missed pill. Always follow the use instructions included with the information packet you receive with your prescription, and always use a second form of contraception if you aren't positive you've been effectively using your birth control.
