There is a law stating you have to be 21 to purchase a handgun from a DEALER! You can purchase a handgun 100% legally from a private party sell. Both of above CAN be correct. To purchase from a Dealer, Federal law requires you be 21. To purchase from a private party, SOME state laws require you to be 21, some require you to be at least 18- so it depends on where you live.
