Not much, fasting doesn't work. If you want to lose weight do not eat any junk and do an elimination diet by not eating wheat. I know someone who is on the diet and has already lost a lot of weight!
If you fast long enough you can lose enough weight to die of starvation. But I don't recommend it.

you will lose a lot of weight. I think most of it will be muscle lost. Beside i don't think anyone could do fasting for 40days in a first attempt. you need to try fast for a day,then 3 days,then a week,and so on. I did fasting before for 2 weeks(water fasting(no food,just water)). you will feel sluggish in the first 3 days or so,depend on your body condition. After that you will feel so much energy inside you,but don't do any heavy activity or exercise during this time. i lost about 30-40 pounds during that fast. my previous weight was 220 lbs,by the end of the fast,my weight is 180lbs. the important thing is how you finish your fasting.you need to eat juice and fruit first for 3 days or so before you go back to your old eating habit.

Actually, you won't lose much weight because a five foot, five person who weighs 120 pounds is basically already at it's ideal weight, henceforth, it would be hard for a lean person to lose a lot of weight through fasting. Fasting that long is not a good way to diet, it'll put you right in the zone where you can encounter real medical complications. Besides, weight is gained by lifestyle choices, doing a spot effort to lose weight only means that once that period is over you'll most likely immediately start putting that weight back on again. To get rid of the weight and to keep it offyou need to establish another lifestyle. And repeated sudden changes in weight isn't good for you either.
