i say it doest hurt that much because there basicly cutting loose skin... there cutting between two muscles and they not cutting anything important its just loose skin between two muscles so its like cutting loose skin of a wound or something. so yeah there not going to cut any veins or important muscles so it doest hurt.
It definitely isn't just loose skin. You have muscles and tissue there but it just isn't as "active" or thick as the edges. Just use your finger to feel the center. Theres definitely something more than loose tissue. They're pretty painful. I don't personally have one but have known people who do. Tongue splits do usually heal pretty fast though. You'd be able to move the pieces separately a few days later. The best way to get an idea is watch videos of the procedure. There are a ton on YouTube of the actual splitting and even some of people who are talking about the experience.

No, your tongue cannot split from getting it pierced. Splitting or bifurcating the tongue involves a surgical procedure to physically divide the tongue in half. Piercing simply places jewelry through the tongue.
No, getting a tongue piercing does not cause the tongue to split. The piercing involves creating a hole in the tongue for the jewelry to pass through, but it will not split the tongue itself. Splitting the tongue is a separate body modification procedure that involves surgically cutting the tongue in half.
"Acid tongue" is a phrase used to describe someone who speaks in a sharp, critical, or sarcastic manner. It implies that the person's words can be harsh or cutting, often causing hurt or offense to others.
Pain levels can vary from person to person, but generally a tongue piercing is rated around a 5-6 out of 10 in terms of pain. The discomfort is typically brief and manageable.
Typically, a tongue piercing may hurt more than a lip piercing, as the tongue is a sensitive and muscular area. However, pain perception can vary from person to person. Both piercings may cause discomfort during the procedure and while the area is healing.
