The original Colt 45 (1873) was a single action pistol with a revolving chamber that held 6 rounds. Single action meant that the hammer had to be cocked before pulling the trigger or, in other words, the trigger simply released the hammer, it did not arm it as well, as in the case of a double action pistol.
This is why you would often see the cowboy (Roy Rogers, for instance) madly fanning the hammer of his Colt with the palm of his hand while holding the trigger with the other, to effect rapid fire of several rounds. It does not, however, explain how they could fire so many shots without reloading.
Depends on the pistol. Typically 10 rounds for a Colt Woodsman.
the semi-automatic 45 pistol holds seven rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber
That number of rounds can vary. Most of us are familiar with revolvers that hold six rounds. Some pistol magazines can hold up to 13 and more. I know of one revolver with a cylinder that holds nine rounds.
Depends on who made it.
6, IIRC
It depends on the pistol make and model, and what it is chambered for. Most semi-autos nowadays hold at least 12 rounds. Most revolvers hold six.
Magazine capacity for the Model 1903 (.32 Smokeless Rimless) is 8 rounds.
It depends on which model and brand. Some hold as few as 6, some hold as many as 13 or 14.
usually six, but if only 5 chambers then 5 rounds
The government model holds 7 bullets in a magazine but some other models hold 8. Also some people will buy bigger magazines that hold up to 14 rounds.
Same as a Model 92 or if you have an extended magazine up to 20
