Try to eat fewer than 1000 calories a day. You are sure to lose weight.

(That's a step in the right direction if you are a fan of Bulimia)

Its a general rule of thumb that one is to take his or her body weight and multiply it times 10.5 and that gives you a general idea of what calories would suffice.

*In your case 240 lbs x 10.5 = 2520 Kcal

An 130 lb person may well benefit from 1365 Kcal, yet at the same time if that individual is a marathon runner or a sedentary pencil pusher the amount of calories needed can vary.

Due to such unknown factors as your bill of health, activity level and so on... its really not fair to say what is or is not right for you.

*I recommend consulting your local library, health food store or just plain others at the gym that seem to be your age and weight.

Hope this is of further assistance.

**Another general rule of thumb is 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week and eating anything you want in moderation, should help in securing a clean bill of health and normative weight loss.

How many calories should you decrease each day to lose a pound a week?

A pound of fat contains roughly 3500 calories, so provided your weight is currently stable, you should aim to reduce your calorie intake by 500 calories a day to lose a pound a week. Adding in extra exercise will help too.

How can I put on weight?

If you want to put on weight, you should double or triple the amount of calories you consume each day.

Without much exercise how many calories should you consume each day and still lose?

The average person needs about 1200 calories a day to maintain weight with no exercise. And it takes a cutback of 3500 calories to lose a pound of weight. So if you did literally nothing but lay in bed, you could lose about a pound a day eating about 1100 calories a day. But this is NOT a healthy weight loss plan. If you want to lose weight, you should keep track of your calorie consumption in an average week, then keep eating the same amount and exercise more. This is gonna be harder than cutting back on food, but you'll feel better and live longer.

What is 560 calories in weight loss?

Matters on if you cut those 560 calories from one day, or all week? If you cut out 560 calories from your daily diet (7 days a week) you should lose about 1 1/2 or so pounds a week. Because a pound of fat is about 3,500 calories. THUS, this is an excellent method in losing weight: to cut your calories down by at least 500 calories a day each day from the original 2500 or more caloric intake you started with. You should lose weight at a steady pace (exactly what you want to have effective weight loss). KEEP IT UP and GOOD LUCK!

How many calories should you eat for your size?

As a general rule of thumb, the number of calories a person can consume that will not result in a weight gain or loss is determined by multiplying a person's weight by 15. Thus, a 200 pound person will maintain this weight by consuming 3,000 calories per day. (200 X 15 = 3,000) Similarly, a 100 pound person would maintain his/her weight by consuming 1,500 calories per day. (100 X 15 = 1,500) Interestingly, this is one of the reasons it is easier for a person to lose weight in the early stages of a diet. If a person weighs 200 pounds at the start of a diet, he/she will lose weight by restricting their calories to 2,700 calories per day because this is 300 calories less than the 3,000 necessary to maintain a weight of 200 pounds. However, when this person reaches a weight of 180 pounds, he/she will no longer lose any weight on a 2,700 calorie diet because this number of calories will maintain a weight of 180 pounds. (180 X 15 = 2,700) Therefore, in order to continue losing weight, this person will have to further reduce the number of calories consumed each day. Using the following formula, it is possible to determine how much weight someone will gain or lose by eating more or less calories than the amount that will maintain their present weight; 3,500 calories = 1 pound of fat. Therefore, a person will gain one pound by eating an extra 3,500 calories or lose one pound by decreasing their calorie intake by 3,500. Thus, if a person eats 100 calories per day less than what is required to maintain their weight, he/she will lose one pound over the course of 35 days (35 days X 100 calories = 3,500 = 1 pound of fat), or 10 pounds in a year (365 days X 100 calories = 36,500 calories divided by 3,500 = 10.4 pounds of fat). Conversely, eating an extra 100 calories per day will result in a 10 pound weight gain over the course of one year.

How much weight would you gain from 6 grams of fat?

each gram of fat contains 14 calories, to gain one pound you need to consume 3500 calories, so 6 grams of fat = 84 calories 84/3500 = .024 * 100 = 2.4 so 2.4% of a pound.
