Smokers typically feel cravings repeatedly during the day; they want to smoke when they wake up, when they eat a meal, when they have a drink, and so forth. It takes mere hours for an addict to develop cravings.

I'm sorry, but the answer seems to be never. I don't mean you'll climb the walls every day of your life, but after several years and with the normal triggers having lost their strength, I still find myself thinking about them, albeit very, very rarely, 10 years on. It most likely has less to do with the actual craving of a cigarette, and more to do with the recurring personal anxieties that led to the habitual behavior in the first place.
If you can go 3 or 4 weeks without smoking, however, you'll find yourself less likely to be in line at the checkout for them. Once you quit the addiction, from my experience, you can never smoke again.
