You need a longer bar until your tongue swelling recedes. We pierce with a 7/8" bar to minimize this problem.. go back to your piercer immediately. It can cause a severe irritaion if not infection as well. The place I got it pierced at here in town used a barbell that was smaller than the barbells people have in their tongue after you have had it pierced for a while.
