Actually, The 742A is the "Woodsmaster" and the 742 BDL is the "Deluxe". The differences in the two rifles are the stocks and forearms. The 742A has a rolled, impressed type of checkering and the 742 BDL has a basket weave style with the stock having a higher comb (where your cheek would rest when shooting). The receiver on the BDL has a slightly higher area where the scope is mounted.

Woodmaster is the model. Grade are ADL, BDL.
A Remington 742 BDL has a different stock and forearm than the 742 ADL. The stock of the 742 BDL has a cheek plate and the forearm is slanted at the front with a different type bolt which secures it. The 742 ADL is the most common type and easier to find if one is trying to purchase a 742.
if you good with guns then get the parts a www.brownells.com if you dont really know much about it then take it to a gunsmith its safer

The designation, BDL represents "B" grade wood and the DL is for deluxe model.
The BDL model of Remington rifles stands for B deluxe. It is an upgraded model which features a hinged floor plate for ammo removal.
It's a BDL. I know this because I own one and the replacement stocks are for BDL's...
bdl is not a model number. Please check again
AnswerI found on Remington Arms website that the serial number was made between 1951-1967 1,000-541,000Model 742 was only made from 1960-1980 so yours would have been made between 1960 - 1967. That narrows it down a little bit for you.
Your best bet would be to try eBay or Gunbroker.com and look in the gun parts section of each auction site. I'm assuming you have a 742 ADL. The 742 BDL has a basket-weave style pattern on the stock and forearm. Also check e-gunparts.com
