The largest sensory organ of the human body is the epidermis, or skin, with its millions of receptors registering temperature, pressure and pain. We touch things not only to feel their surfaces, but also to communicate to each other. Researchers have long known that babies raised in orphanages who are never handled or touched fail to thrive and will even die, thus an important component of caring for premature infants is touch therapy. Although we grow up, we never outgrow this need for contact with another human being, and boys, like any other human, will touch another human out of curiosity, to comfort or in playfulness. As heterosexual boys mature sexually, they will seek to touch girls out of a growing need for intimacy with the opposite sex.

Also....they want to wipe their bogies on them!
