You don't have a cherry and nothing pops, this is a childish term for the hymen tearing - the hymen is tissue that surrounds the vaginal opening, it can tear as a result of vaginal penetration but not always as it doesn't cover much of the vaginal opening and it is flexible so can stretch to allow penetration.
The hymen has absolutely no relation to menstruation what-so-ever, menstruation is controlled by your reproductive cycle.
