You should wait until the 'wound' has completely healed with no oozing or bleeding and when the scab has fallen off. If you swim before this you may be putting yourself at risk of getting an infection which could mean you have to take you piercing out whilst it heals again and then it will close up altogether.
Actually, you should wait for at least 3 weeks before swimming in public pools, rivers, lakes or even the sea. After you pierce any part of your body, a very complex process takes place, this process is a protection mechanism that your body developes against the new foreign object in it.
Specifically the belly button is known for being shelter of a lot of bacteria, so you should clean it twice a day with water and soap (Neutral pH soap).
After 3 weeks aproximately, your body has fully completed the cicatrization process and you can do your life as usual : D
well, i did the day i got mine pierced.
It's probably a bunch of white blood cells trying to get rid of the foreign body, but just in case, I would go back to the place where you got it pierced and get a second opinion from a professional because it could be infected.
because it is just healing from when it got pierced
It depends on what you are getting done; my friend and I got piercings today. She got ear, you buy a set of earrings and they pierce you for free. I got belly/navel; belly, nipple and mostly everything else is $34.99 and it includes a stud/ring.
If you could swim before you got your naval pierced then you will still be able to swim afterwards, unless it is so huge that its weight drags your to the bottom. If you have just had your naval pierced it is probably a good idea to avoid swimming until the piercing has completely healed, to avoid any risk of infection. Once it has healed swimming shouldn't be a problem.
When I got my second piercing it didn't hurt at all. It just felt like a little pinch. I was scared to get my done, but when I got it done I wasn't scared to get the other. :)
Nipple piercings are straight piercings regardless of what jewellery is in the piercing when it was first done, the barbell allows the piercing to discharge and affords room for cleaning better than a ring does. Don't let anyone tell you that if the piercing is done with a curved needle the piercing is curved, that a line of BS. Once the piercing is healed you can change over to what is called a "D" ring this ring has a straight section that goes through the piercing and is by far more comfortable than a standard ring. It has the appearance of a ring but the straight segment allows the ring to be moved without twisting a curvature in the piercing like you would with a standard ring. Ultimately for day to day wear the barbell is going to be your jewelery of choice, for comfort and discretion.
I think you can just be super careful and don't swim in areas that aren't monitored Daily.
I would not let that slow you down. Carry on!
Yes you can tan, tanning has no effect on your tongue piercing.
i just got one about a week ago and it is actually a piercing on the bottom lip,and it is where pierce the top and bottom of your bottom lip. Here is a picture of it
It isn't that bad just as long as you breath in through ur nose n out ur mouth only when I got mine done I was getten my second nipple done I tensed up n it hurt a little bit because I was ready for it. It also depends on ur threshold for pain is too. It isn't that bad just follow the bodypiercer's instructions afterwards and you'll be just fine.
