The Browning Double Auto was designed by the late Val Browning, son of John M. Browning. It was made in 12 gauge only between 1952 and 1971 in Belgium by Fabrique Nationale. There were three variations: Standard, Twelvette and Twentyweight. Barrel lengths were 26, 26 1/2 (Twentyweight only) 28 or 30. Could be had with or without a vent rib. Value depending on condition 400-900. Rare colors will bring more. @ 65,000 were made The alloy frame was available in different colors (royal or light blue, satin gray, green, gold, black and brown. Look and see if your Browning double auto has a number ahead of the letter A or 2 numbers ahead of the letter A.This is needed to establish the year of production.No Browning double auto could be ordered with a Polychoke,this would have been a after market installation.

Browning did not record the serial numbers for the double automatic.I can say that they were made from 1952-1960.They also reintroduced it in 1971 for one year.

There were 2 distinct models of the Browning double auto shotguns made.the first models were the standard double auto,and light weight double auto shotguns which were made from 1952-1960.The second set were the twelvette double auto,and the twenty weight double auto.These were made from 1957-1971.The letter combination prefix of 3A would suggest that your Browning shotgun nwas made in the year 1963,which would make it the second set of shotguns mentioned.I hope that you find this info informative.
