However, in the "Before and After" episode, Meridith told Sadie that they were no longer 25, sleeping their way through Europe anymore. Considering med school application cycle takes at least a year in the US, and the med school takes 4 years to complete, Meridith would have been at least 31 when she started the internship. Also, when her dad left, Meredith was 5 and Thatcher was said to be only eventually remarried (The Other Side of This Life: Part 1). Lexie is 24 when she started the internship, which also suggests, Meredith was at least 30 when she was an intern.
