Each person is different. Take your weight and divide it by 2.2 to get your body weight in kg. Then take your weight in kilograms and multiply it .8. The number you get is the minimum amount of grams of protein you should have a day.

There are 2.2 pounds in a kilogram. Let's say you're 200 lbs...

200 lbs / 2.2 lbs (per kg) = 90.9 kg

So how much protein should you be eating?

90.9 kg x 0.8 g/kg = 72.7 g of protein

It's not possible to say how many grams of protein a person should have a day, it all depends on what you are eating.

they say that 10-20% of the energy consumed on a daily basis should come from proteins.

You have to keep in mind that your body can only process around 30 grams of protein every hour, the rest is unnecessary calories.
