It strongly depends on the mental health of the individual. Some people are genetically predisposed to certain emotions/mental health struggles such as depression, anxiety, fearfulness, etc. Everybody has a different pain tolerance, and an event that may feel like a full blown castastrophy to one person, may seem like not a huge deal at all to a more resilient person. Mainly though, some people are more resilient than others because 1) they have good coping skills/have learned how to cope positively with life stressors 2) They're thoughts/mental cognitions are different. They may be geared more towards looking at the bright side of things, experience less negative self talk, don't always expect the worst happen, and/or they believe that everything will always be ok & turn out for the best.... if not they usually believe in themselves enough to know that they will get through whatever the circumstance might be, and believe they can handle it.
