well did you have it out in battle? if not it has to be out in battle with latios for arena trap to work. if you did have you trapinch out, then... either arena trap didn't work( witch would be weird) or i don't know. another Pokemon would be wynaut or wabuffet. it has the ability shadow tag and that keeps the Pokemon from escaping.
i hope you catch the latios! :) -RR14
Trapinch. You can catch it in the desert. And if you just want a Pokemon to not flee there is also Wynaut and Wobbuffet.
I played pokemon ruby years ago and as far as I can tell latios is a roaming pokemon, that means he may be anywhere in the region. Also he can flee from battle and he usually does in the first turn so if you want to catch him i recommend catching a pokemon with 'arena trap' such as Trapinch, this will prevent him from fleeing (I cant remember if Trapinch is in ruby or not) or you'll have to use a master ball or rely on shear luck.
You need the Pokemon with arena trap in battle or the wild Pokemon can flee
Latios's Number ID in the national pokedex is 384. He is found in Pokemon emerald, rubr and sapphire. He is constantly moving when you change routes or go into cities and buildings. He will flee immediatly.
In the third generation game of Pokemon Emerald, Latios is one of two legendary Pokemon that will flee from the player if found. After defeating the Elite Four, the player speaks to their mother and this action sets Latios flying all over Hoenn. It can then be encountered randomly in tall grass.

It is HIGHLY recommended that you save your Masterball for that Pokemon. Because (Much like Entei/Suicune/Raikou in Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green it is a roaming pokemon thus it will flee from battle on it's turn.) If you wasted your masterball on another pokemon (Dont worry i did it as well. wasted it on Rayquaza in Pokemon Sapphire) you can use a trapinch with the arena trap ability (so latios cannot escape) or if you have a cro/gol/zu bat on your team and it knows mean look use that so it cannot escape.
1) Well first catch a trapinch in the desert. 2) Next put the trapinch in the daycare and raise him until lvl 55 or so. 3) After that take the trapinch out and walk around the daycare grass. 4) after llike 10-15 Pokemon he'll show up and he can't flee because of trapinch's effect. 5) than catch it and be happy .(bring a lot of ultra balls)
using wobbuffet, it has an ability to make it trapped.

I'm pretty sure they do
only latios and latias
You need a Pokemon that can use move like mean look or a Pokemon that has an ability, for example shadow tag or area trap. those three things will keep latias/latios from fleeing. (otherwise just use masterball) P.S. DO NOT PUT LATIAS/LATIOS ASLEEP IT WILL STILL BE ABLE TO FLEE
unfortunatly, yes. i tried using a dugtrio because it has the special arena trap ability and entei stayed and fought.

Latios and Latias are roaming the map. You must use a Poke-Nav to track them. They will try to flee battle if you encounter them so use meanlook. If they faint, you cannot find another one.
