Because online mode is on in the settings. I get the error too.
how to log in minecraft 1.3.9
Run the minecraft launcher, click options located under login, then click force update. Then log in. (You can use this for future glitches such as not being able to log in, crashes constantly, etc.)

Updating minecraft on the computer is very easy. When you open the launcher and log in, it should download the new version automatically (if you confirm it). Obviously, this requires an internet connection. The only difference is updating to 1.6.1. This version requires you to visit the minecraft website, go to the downloads section, and download the new launcher. Then, when you want to play minecraft, you open the new launcher, login, download the update automatically, and play.
It means you can not connect to the Minecraft servers, check your network.
Uhh, make sure that was the premium account, with the correct password.
I have an Anjocaido minecraft launcher myself, It's a cracked launcher enabling you to change your name everytime you log in and force updates. Getting the original minecraft for $20 or if they put it up $26 will show you the updates that notch has put in (and server i think).
This happens if the minecraft launcher can't get access to the minecraft servers. If you play the game from the website first, then you will get access to an offline version through the launcher
You can't log in to minecraft because you didn't download it. And there is no login like username and password. You just download start game then start playing!
because you need to buy a premium account of minecraft.net
