The company that created VMK, also known as Sulake, started to charge Disney for running the site. Regardless of the popularity of the site, Disney shut it down because they did not want to have to pay for it. Their excuse was that it was originally supposed to be temporary, but everyone knows they are just not willing to pay for the site to stay up. It closed May 21, 2008. Even after protests at Disney World and Disneyland, changes have not occured.

it doesnt even make sense that disney couldnt just pay for the game. i read about it in Kingdom Keepers: Disney After Dark and wanted to play it. now i am dissapointed that they shut the game down :(
