If you are holding the guitar like you would when you are playing, then the sync button is on the right side, right next to the headset input and strap connection.

You don't plug it in, you just press the Xbox button on the guitar controller and it should flash and turn on like a normal controller. However, if that doesn't work, there is a smaller button on the side of the guitar and an identical one on the front of the Xbox. Hold these down together and they will sync. Have fun :)
