You have to trade a Haunter to evolve it into Gengar.
lies all lies go yo the old chateu its near the exit in eterna forest go into the mansion go up the stairs into the middle room and go to the first door to the right you should see glowing eyes on the wall walk in the room some and evently youll find one. oh by the way youll need a game boy game(must be a Pokemon game)in the slot at the bottom ok hope this helps

Okay so, the first person is right. When you get the haunter from the lady in snowpoint city, (after trading your Medicham), you take off the everstone and trade your haunter with someone else. Then the haunter will evolve. Then you trade back or whatever and voila! you have a gengar. (This is for the people who do not have a GBA that's a Pokemon game)
