Can you buy stones in HeartGold?
No. Unless you obtain them from people giving them to you (i.e. when they call you after you exchange phone numbers with them), the only way you can obtain stones is by competing in the Pokeathalon and winning points. You will then be able to buy stones (the items are random each day) at the athlete shop.
